Let’s face it, some perfumes are lovely and some, well, suffice it to say you don’t want to get into an elevator with them. If you or someone in your home tends to get overwhelmed by strong perfumes, here’s a simple recipe to make your own light scent.
You'll need 1 small glass bottle and mister. I like the little misters for hermit crabs from the pet store. Misters are also available from http://www.netbottle.com/
Mix:
1 oz. distilled water
40 drops (abt. 1/2 teaspoon) favorite essential oil or mixed oils

(I got nice oils at The Body Shop)
Shake well.
Some recipes call for adding alcohol as a preservative, I haven't found this necessary in a small mister. If you want to add alcohol add an 1/4 teaspoon of distilled alcohol.
You can mix oils to get a scent you like. This is a great way to create your own signature scent.
If you use several different scents, as the oils evaporate, the smell may shift slightly.
Use more essential oil for a stronger scent, or more water for a lighter scent.
