The Story of Cosmetics

Check out this new short  film, "The Story of Cosmetics, The Ugly Truth of Toxins In, Toxins Out", from the folks that brought us "The Story of Stuff".

There are 2 exciting pieces of legislation that should help make our products safer for us. Support the Safe Cosmetics Act of 2010 here.

The toxics reform bill H.R. 5820, known as the Toxic Chemicals Safety Act, has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Chairmen Waxman (CA-30) and Rush (IL-01). If you haven't signed the petition, you can do it here. Sign to help encourage our legislators in Washington to support the bill!

  1. It's been said so many times "If you're not willing to put it in your mouth you shouldn't put it on your skin!"

It's such a simple thought but so true. Your skin is like a huge sponge soaking up whatever you put on it. How many people don't realize the damage they are causing themselves because they are putting harmful chemicals on their bodies? Too many!

  2. You're so right. I think most people figure a little can't hurt, forgetting that virtually every commercial lotion, soap, sunscreen, shampoo & deodorant is full of toxic stuff. Suddenly, it's not a little bit any more, it's a lot. Your soaps look like a good alternative!
